Every pet owner knows how hard it is to resist letting your furry friend stay in the living room with you, or even share the bed with you. It’s true, you have to be stone-hearted to stand firm to that sad look in their eyes. Although this can be a lot of fun for you and your family, letting your dog in your bed can actually put your and the health of your family at risk.
Not many pet owners are aware that letting your dog or cat in your bedroom or living room, or more precisely, letting them sit on the sofa with can actually trigger a lot of health complications. People with a weakened immune system are particularly at risk because their immune response to microorganisms is very weak. And knowing that furry pets carry various parasites which can infest your body and cause serious health issues, it’s only logical to assume that prevention is the best protection in this case.
New research found that 60% of cat owners and 55% of dog owners in the USA sleep with their pets every day. But, this is also a trend in Germany, Japan, Australia, Netherlands, The UK and France. In other words, it’s a worldwide trend that won’t end in the near future. But, if we all try to raise awareness of the issue, this trend might soon become a history.
