You might be surprised by the chemicals you are putting on your face when you purchase store bought and manufactured cleansers. Many are packaged in plastic and likely contain it too. Plus, note all of those ingredients that you can’t pronounce. Who knows what those are?
However, you’ll find that there are chemical facial cleansers that you can make on your own that have no harmful chemicals. Alternatives you make yourself aren’t nearly as expensive as the organic options either. However, they’ll still help with rosacea, inflamed and red skin, as well as other skin conditions.
A truly wholesome facial cleanser is jojoba oil. It’s an essential oil that is moisturizing. However, it doesn’t have that icky greasy feel. In fact, jojoba oil actually helps the skin produce less sebum which is the body’s natural oils. This actually makes the skin less oily. Additionally, it is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.
Because it is also anti-oil, jojoba oil is actually great as a natural acne destroyer. In addition to moisturizing and cleansing, it can help to treat conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, rheumatism, and arthritis. It also contains myristic acid which actually is linked to helping to lessen the symptoms and pain that comes with arthritis.
Oil on the Face???
Of course you’re thinking that if you put more oil on your face, how does it actually make it less oily? Well, oil actually attracts other oils. Jojoba oil is very similar to the oils the skin on your face naturally produces in comparison to synthetic oils or animal oils which are usually in many of the cleansers in the skin care aisle of your store. That’s why jojoba is so effective and should be a no-brainer to add to your skincare regimen.
Rose Water for Your Face
Rose water helps to sooth any irritated skin and skin that is sensitive. It also helps to cleanse oily skin and balance it out so it isn’t dry either. It can help to tone and soften aging skin and helps to provide a radiant glow to any skin type.
Rose water has the properties of being a cleanser that is antibacterial, antiseptic, and is an anti-inflammatory and is great for oily or dry skin, as well as any other skin types. Since rose water is packed full of antioxidants and vitamins, this natural moisturizer helps cool and soothe the skin and will also nourish it and diminish signs of aging.
Make Your Own Jojoba and Rose Water Skin Cleanser
What you need to make your own all natural cleanser is jojoba oil, rose water spray, cotton balls or cosmetic pads made of cotton, and muslin face cloths. Make sure you have multiple spare muslin face cloths because since you will be washing daily, sometimes multiple times per day, you’ll want extra ones because they need to be laundered after using them a time or two during your facial cleansing regimen. Also, note for the rose water spray, you actually make your own. You can buy already made rose water and just put it in a spray bottle or you can make your own using rose essential oil and water.
- In order to use, moisten a cosmetic pad or cotton ball with warm water.
- Next, add 3 drops of jojoba oil to the cleansing pad or cotton ball.
- Thirdly, wipe your whole neck and face gently.
Then moisten the muslin cloth with warm water and put it on your face, letting it set for about 5-10 seconds. Repeat the same thing on your neck. This step is important because it improves overall circulation of the skin and helps the skin on the surface and deeper below.
After this step, take the rose water and spray it generously on your face a few times.
Next, take two drops of jojoba oil into your palms and rub it into your hands to apply to your face and neck all over gently.
Using jojoba oil and rose water will be a daily method to replace any other cleansers you might be using to cleanse your face instead. It will give you a clean, smooth, toned, and healthier appearance.
