If you’re sick and tired of your hair and want to make a change without burning and damaging it with chemicals you should consider trying out cinnamon. It’s a safe and natural alternative for bleaching, which will give you the desired lighter tone and leave your hair soft and silky afterwards. It will smell amazing too!
If you want to lighten up your hair a shade or two this cinnamon hair mask is the right choice. It’s not only going to give you the desired hair color, but it will stimulate hair growth and strengthen your follicles because cinnamon abounds in vitamins and antioxidants which nourish the hair roots. The results will be visible after just one treatment and your hair will be 2 to 3 shades lighter for sure.
This treatment works on all hair colors, but darker shades of brown are a bit trickier to lighten up so brunettes should be more patient and repeat the treatment a few times to get the desired results.
Cinnamon hair mask
- 3 tbsp. of honey
- 3 tbsp. of cinnamon
- 5-6 tbsp. of hair conditioner
This amount is enough for one wash if you have long hair. If your hair is shoulder length or shorter divide the amount in half.
First mix the honey and cinnamon in a small bowl, stirring thoroughly to combine the ingredients. Then add the conditioner and mix it all again.
Wash your hair with shampoo first and then leave it to air dry. When it’s half dry comb it and divide it in strands. Take a brush and carefully apply the mixture on your entire hair, making sure you don’t miss a strand. If you like you can apply the mixture with your hands and rub it in your hair. Just make sure you don’t apply any on your scalp or face, it can cause irritation and redness.
Once you’ve applied it on your entire hair, tie it in a bun and cover it with a plastic bag. Wrap a towel over the plastic bag and leave it on for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes take the towel off and leave the plastic bag on for some 4 to 5 hours. Afterwards wash your hair thoroughly with hot water and admire the results. Your hair will be lighter 2-3 shades for sure.
If you feel like you want it even lighter repeat the treatment a few times until you’re satisfied with the results.
This mask is well suited for oily hair, but you can use it if you have dry hair as well, just add 1tbsp. of olive oil to the mixture.
Don’t worry if you feel some mild tingling because it’s a normal reaction. Be advised that this mask only works on natural hair; it won’t lighten up dyed hair.
