Foot blisters are a common problem that usually develops due to friction, heat, dirt and moisture. They are often caused by wearing your new shoes or other brand new pair of footwear for extended periods.
Most of the foot blisters are filled with watery liquid, but if they are inflamed, they can be filled with blood or pus.The following home remedies will help you get rid of blisters in no time.
- Aloe Vera
Aloe vera is an excellent natural remedy for treating foot blisters. This plant has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and can reduce redness and inflammation. Moreover, due to its high water content, aloe vera hydrates the affected area and speeds up the healing process, especially if the blister is torn.
Apply fresh aloe vera gel to your blister and let it dry. Then rinse it off with lukewarm water. Another option is to combine aloe vera gel with one vitamin E capsule.
- Green or Black Tea
Both black and green tea act as anti-inflammatories, but it has been proved that green tea has more powerful anti-inflammatory effect than black tea. Add one green tea bag in 250ml boiling water and let it steep for 5 minutes. Allow it to cool at room temperature. Dip a cotton ball in the tea and apply it on the blister. Let it stay for 15-30 minutes. Repeat the procedure two or three times a day.
- Vitamin E
Vitamin E stimulates the healing process and prevents scarring. Crush one vitamin E capsule and apply the oil on the blister. Let it stay for at least 30 minutes. Repeat the procedure every day until the blister is completely healed.
Toothpaste contains baking soda and menthol and it is very effective in treating blisters. Take a little bit of your toothpaste and apply it on the affected area. Let it act for two hours. Rinse it off with warm water. Then, apply foot cream. Repeat the procedure 1-2 times a day until the blister is gone. The toothpaste will dry the blisters and relieve pain and itching.
Note: Do not use teeth-whitening toothpaste.
Chamomile tea has the ability to relieve pain and reduce swelling. Prepare chamomile tea (add 2 tea bags in 250ml boiling water) and let it cool. Soak a cotton ball in the infusion and apply it on the blister. Allow it to act for 10 minutes. Repeat the procedure a few times a day.
- Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has strong antibacterial properties and can prevent infection in case the blister is torn. Note that ACV can cause local redness and burning sensation. Therefore, you should apply a tiny amount of ACV and gently apply it on the affected area.
Curcumin has natural antiseptic properties and has the ability to relieve pain and inflammation and prevent infections. Combine one teaspoon curcumin with a little bit water to obtain homogenous and thick paste. Apply the paste on the blister and let it act for 10-15 minutes. Then, rinse it off with warm water. Repeat the procedure 2-3 times a day until the blister is gone.
