Homemade Syrup with Honey and Black Radish for Nonreproductive Cough and Bronchitis


Black radish with honey acts as an immuno-effective antimicrobial agent. It has very effective in treating bronchitis, nonproductive and chronic cough, in children and adults. It is sweet and tasty so the kids love it and even ask for more.


You need one big black radish of 400-500 grams, high-quality honey, or if you don`t have honey you can use sugar. But, it is recommended to use honey.

  1. Wash the radish well and then dry it. if it`s not straight, cut the down part so that it can stand straight, or put it in a glass.
  2. Cut the upper part, which you will need later on.
  3. Make a hole in the radish, leaving the walls 2cm thick. Put 2 spoons of honey, so that more of half of the hole is filled. If there is allergy to honey, put 4 spoons of sugar.
  4. Shut the radish with it’s previously cut upper part. Let it stay during the night.

Consume it in the morning.


Adults: 1 tbsp, 4-5 times a day, few minutes before meal.

Children: 1 teaspoon, 4-5 times a day before meal.

You will finish the syrup during the day. In the evening, add honey in the same radish. The same radish can be used 2-3 times max. Then, you have to use another radish.

Note: people with diabetes and children should pay attention because large amount of honey can cause allergic reaction.

There are also some contraindications: acute GIT, liver, gallbladder and kidney disease.
