Onion Juice

Try consuming one medium –sized raw onion every day. You can also make a mixture prepared with ½ tsp of honey and ½ tsp of onion juice and consume it every day for 1-2 weeks.


Several studies have confirmed that the garlic can lower the high blood pressure. The cooked as well as the raw garlic are effective in lowering the blood pressure and in maintaining the proper cholesterol level. It stimulates the production of nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide which help in relaxing the blood vessels.

That is why you need do consume 1-2 crushed garlic cloves every day. You can crush them with hands because with crushing them hydrogen sulfide is created which is proven to reduce the high blood pressure. Consequently it prevents heart attack, removes gas and maintains proper blood flow. If you don’t like the garlic’s taste or it causes heartburn then try to mix it with a cup of milk.

You can also mix 6 drops of garlic juice with 4 tbsp. of water and drink it two times a day.

That is why you need to consume 2 tsp. of honey every morning on an empty stomach. You can also prepare a mixture from 1 tsp of honey, 1 tsp of ginger juice and 2 tsp of cumin seed powder. Consume 2 times every day.

Another option is to mix honey and basil juice in an equal ratio and consume it in the morning every day, before drinking or eating.


Lemons maintain the blood vessels elastic and soft and in this way the occurrence of high blood pressure is prevented. Furthermore they are rich in vitamin C which is effective in preventing heart diseases and in neutralizing the damage and harmful effects triggered by the free radicals in the body.

Prepare juice from half a lemon and mix it with a cup of warm water. Do not add salt or sugar. This mixture should be consumed on an empty stomach every morning.


Celery is quite effective in lowering the high blood pressure as it contains high levels of phytochemical 3- N butylphthalide. Phthalides are substances that relax the muscles around and in the arterial walls, which help the blood to flow without any difficulties.

Moreover celery helps in reducing the stress hormone which is one of the main reasons for tightening of blood vessels and this is one more way how celery helps in maintaining proper blood pressure.

Consume one stalk of celery with a glass of water every day. You can also chew celery throughout the day.

Watermelon Seeds

Watermelon seeds contain cucurbocitrin, compound which is proven to dilate the blood capillaries and to improve the kidney function as well. That is why watermelon seeds are effective in reducing high blood pressure and also are effective against arthritis.

A pilot study conveyed in 2010 by Florida State showed that watermelon has the ability to reduce high blood pressure because of its vasodilatory effect.

If you want to prepare effective homemade remedy for reducing blood pressure, grind in equal amount poppy seeds and watermelon seeds. Consume 1 tsp.in the evening and in the morning.

Another recipe is to mix 2 tsp. of gently crushed, dried watermelon seeds with boiling water. After an hour, strain the mixture. Consume 4 tbsp. of the remedy on equal intervals throughout the day.

Coconut Water

If you want to avoid problems with high blood pressure you need to keep your body hydrated. Try drinking 8-10 glasses of water every day. Coconut water is also very effective in lowering the blood pressure.

In 2005 a study was conducted and published by the West Indian Medical Journal which showed that coconut water is quite effective in lowering the systolic blood pressure because it is rich in magnesium, potassium and vitamin C. You can also use coconut water in your kitchen for preparing meals.


Bananas are also effective fruits against hypertension. They are rich in potassium- mineral that reduces the effect of sodium.

Try consuming 1-2 bananas every day. Also try to consume orange juice, spinach, dried apricots, sweet baked potatoes, currants, winter squash, zucchini, cantaloupe and dried raisins.

Cayenne Pepper

People who suffer from mild hypertension can help themselves with consuming cayenne pepper. It helps in maintaining proper blood flow by preventing platelets from clumping together and accumulating in the blood.

Although cayenne peppers are delicious they should be consumed in small quantities. They can be consumed in vegetable and fruit salads as well as in soups.
