They changed the status of medical marijuana from schedule 1 drug to schedule 2. This means that medical marijuana is no longer considered as a harmful, addictive and non medically benefit drug. All this happened after a study done by the St. George University of London that has confirmed how medical marijuana is very effective in shrinking brain tumors. The two most common cannabinoids in marijuana, THC and CBD were found to be highly effective in weakening the cancer cells. Although we have known of the benefits of medical marijuana for a while now, being able to further research it with government funds is pretty amazing and a huge step forward.
