A bunion is a bony deformity of the joint at the base of the big toe often caused by wearing tight, narrow shoes, and high heels. Bunions may run in families, but many are the result form wearing tight shoes. Bunions sometimes develop with arthritis.
Women are especially prone to developing this deformity with nine out of ten developing bunions during their life. Though not always painful, bunions can really affect your quality of life. For one thing, they can be quite unattractive, but more importantly they are also annoying as finding fitting footwear can be quite an ordeal.
There is a surgical procedure for their removal but they can appear again due to the usual factors which cause them. However, there are several natural remedies which can help you eliminate bunions without surgery.
What causes bunions?
They’re usually caused by tight and narrow shoes and women suffer from them the most. They can also be caused by inherited defects, too much stress on the foot or by some medical condition. This condition can also happen if your entire body weight falls on your foot and joints, making the big toe unstable and causing bunions.
Recipe to get rid of salts in the body
If you have a high sodium diet you’re at higher risk of developing bunions because high salt intake can cause salt formation in the big toe leading to swelling joints and bunions formation.
The excess salt in your organism can easily be resolved with this natural remedy. You need 5-10 bay leaves and 300ml of water. Pour the water in a pot and add the leaves. Cook them for 5 minutes and pour the mixture in a thermos. Leave it during the night.
The next morning stir the mixture and drink it throughout the day in small sips. Repeat the process for 3 consecutive days, preparing a fresh batch every night. Take a one week break and do the treatment one more time.
An organic paste to remove bunions
Once the excess salt is out of your system you can continue with the elimination of the bunions. The following paste is very effective and it contains only natural ingredients.
- Take 5 large bay leaves, crush them finely and put them in 100ml of 96% alcohol.
- Leave the remedy for a week then strain it.
- Soak your feet in warm water to which you have previously added some baking soda (for example, 3l water with 1 tbsp. baking soda).
- Towel-dry your feet then apply the remedy.
- Finally, put on some cotton socks.
One more organic recipe against bunions
Another effective remedy against bunions is olive oil massage. The mild pressure and olive oil will stimulate the body to release synovial fluids which can eliminate the painful growths and relieve pain.
Start by gently massaging your toes and the lower part of your foot for some 15 minutes, twice a day. Over time the bunions will start shrinking until they disappear completely.
