This syrup is so tasty that you can “sip” it out of pure pleasure. Laurel gives it a special flavor and tone of sweetness and bitterness, lemon gives it a specificity of acidity and sugar is the one who will “drive” these ingredients with water to circulate through the body. Try it.
You will need:
- 6 bay leaves
- 2.5 oz of water
- 6 tablespoons of sugar (best to use a brown muscovado sugar)
- 1 lemon
Put water in a pot and boil it. Add the bay leaves and cook them covered for 6 – 10 minutes.
Remove the bay leaves, pour it into a container in which to prepare the syrup, and stir in the sugar and squeeze the whole lemon. Mix well and wait until all the sugar has melted. Take one teaspoon several times a day. The first day you can take one teaspoon always when intense coughing occurs.
The syrup can be refrigerated for several days. It can be consumed cold and hot.
If you have other symptoms of a cold, after the syrup it is useful to additionally take a slice of lemon, peel it and chew the rest of the lemon.
