THE INCONVENIENT TRUTH
Dreadful as it sounds, the state of the Asian seafood market is alarming. This situation was exposed by reporters who discovered that such shipments of feces-fed seafood were endorsed by the FDA.
Americans consume large amounts of shrimp, which implies that some of your friends and family could be at risk. At present, about 100 million pounds of shrimp are exported by Vietnam to the United States every year.

Shopping from American fish stores reduces your risk of eating polluted fish, as imported fish may have little oversight and many health concerns.
When in a fish store, always look for fish that has clean, shiny, well-colored gills. These should be quite firm as opposed to those in fish caught longer ago.
