It’s no secret that everyone wants a bright and shiny smile, but not everyone can afford it. Celebrities constantly advertise different products and procedures which are guaranteed to put a sparkly smile on your face, but what they fail to mention is how expensive these procedures are. And we are well aware not everyone can afford them. In addition to being expensive they can also damage your teeth and make you regret you ever wanted whiter teeth. That’s why we’re here to help you achieve that healthy smile everyone dreams about without spending a fortune and what’s more important without causing damage to your teeth. Using only natural ingredients you can achieve your goal and make all your friends envious of your bright and shiny smile.
Today we’ll share with you 3 simple ways you can whiten your teeth at home using only natural ingredients. You can thank us later, after you’ve seen the results.
- Baking soda
It’s no surprise baking soda is the number one on the list, we all know that it’s slightly abrasive and it can brush away all the surface stains caused by coffee, tea or smoking. Baking soda is available to all, it’s cheap and what’s more important it really works. Try it out and see for yourself, you’ll be amazed by the results.
You will need:
- Baking soda
- Water or lemon juice
Mix several teaspoons of baking soda with water or fresh lemon juice in order to make a thick paste. Apply the paste on your toothbrush and brush your teeth with the mixture. Leave the paste for 1 minute if you’re using lemon juice (the acid may damage the enamel if you leave it on longer), or if you’re using water you can leave it on for 3 minutes. Rinse. Make sure you dry off your teeth and remove the excess saliva with a paper tissue before you apply the paste.
- Activated charcoal
When we first heard that activated charcoal can be used for teeth whitening, it sounded a bit crazy. But even though it sounded crazy at first, after some research we found out that charcoal can be very effective in removing coffee, wine, tea or other stains because it has natural adhesive qualities. Due to these qualities it can bind with the stains and take those off your teeth when you spit it out, which makes your teeth look whiter. All you need for this treatment is some charcoal and maybe some water. You can do this in two ways. You can just dip your toothbrush in charcoal powder and brush your teeth with it as you would normally do. Another way, which has proven to be a bit more effective, is to mix some charcoal powder with some water and swish with it for a few minutes, spit it out and leave the remaining charcoal for a few minutes before rinsing it. By leaving it in you are giving it time to bind with the stains and remove them when you rinse.
- Coconut oil
Coconut oil is a unique, old remedy which has proven to be effective in teeth whitening. It contains lauric acid which fights the bacteria found in plaque and makes our teeth look yellow. Not only is coconut oil good for whiter teeth but it also has antimicrobial properties and keeps your gums heathy and your breath fresh. You don’t have to take our word for it, try it out and see for yourself. It’s a fairly simple procedure, called oil pulling and many people swear it’s the most effective home remedy they’ve tried so far.
You just take one spoon of coconut oil and swish it around in your mouth for 5-10 minutes. You can also apply a few drops on your toothbrush and brush your teeth with it like you regularly do. Either way, it’s effective and good for your dental hygiene in general.
However, you must bear in mind that these routines are not a substitute for brushing your teeth or flossing, you can just add them to your regular routine in order to get better and faster results. In order to get the most out of these tips and tricks you must set up a routine and stick to it on an everyday basis. Only then can you see the results and feel the difference. Follow these steps and witness your smile getting brighter every day.
