113 Year Old Man Reveals 5 Foods He Eats For Longevity

Bernando LaPallo, from Arizona, turned 113 in 2014. He was born in Brazil in 1901, but what’s more interesting about him is that he isn’t the first centenarian in his family. As young he accepted his father’s advice on how to lead a healthy lifestyle and has followed it ever since.

In fact, he was so interested in healthy nutrition that he even studied culinary arts at the Sorbonne University in Paris. This may also have been incited by his father, a doctor and a herbalist, who set Bernando’s guidelines to a healthy lifestyle from an early age.

113 Year Old Man Reveals 5 Foods He Eats For Longevity

Mr. LaPallo is certain that his longevity is mostly due to the lifestyle he leads, and not to his genes.

Even at his age, he is still capable of looking after himself. His daily routines include regular walks, doing a lot of crosswords and reading, all of which promote his mental agility too aside from his stamina. He also has good writing skills. Actually, if you could meet him in person, you’d be surprised how alert and vigilant he is when talking.

Bernando LaPallo’s dietary regimen includes lots of organic vegetables and fruits, salmon, but excludes processed foods and red meats. According to him, the following 5 foods are the reason for his good health and vitality.

1# Garlic

Alicin, the active ingredient in garlic, has numerous medicinal properties. Owing to allicin, garlic can reduce high cholesterol, as well as high blood pressure. Garlic can also prevent atherosclerosis, the root cause of heart disease. Eating raw garlic gives you most health benefits.

2# Cinnamon

Produced in Sri Lanka, Ceylon cinnamon is widely treasured for its medicinal uses. This spice reduces cholesterol and blood sugar, fights yeast infections and inflammation and improves digestion.

3# Honey

One of the top super foods on the planet, raw honey can maintain alkalinity in your body. This amazing natural sweetener is also a storehouse of antioxidants.

4# Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate, especially the one with cocoa content of 70% or more, can be extremely health beneficial if consumed moderately. Just like honey, dark chocolate packs a lot of antioxidants, reduces blood pressure and stress, and maintains your heart health.

5# Olive oil

Abundant in monounsaturated fats, olive oil is particularly effective in reducing cholesterol, controlling blood sugar levels and lowering the risk of heart disease. Extra virgin olive oil provides most health benefits.
